I am not a frequent traveler but i do always make sure to be prepared when travelling especially if it’s your first out of the country. I’ve run into different blogs and post about how you can actually visit Macau and Hong Kong in a cheaper way. The technique we used is to book Macau as your first arrival country and then spend a whole day visiting Macau’s tourist spots. Then travel to Hong Kong via Ferry or Bus (yes it is available now). You can save money because you only need to spend one way ticket going to Hong Kong.
Our flight to Macau is 5:15 PM so we expect that we will arrive there between 7: 00 PM – 8:00 PM. Our plan is to just stay one night and then tour on the next day. We booked Ka Meng Villa our hotel in Macau from Agoda. This is the cheaper we found that located on the central area of the Macau Peninsula where we can visit Senado Square, Ruins of St. Paul & Museu De Macau.
Ka Meng Villa address is “Rua Madeira, Edf, Kam Hou, No 7, 2 e 3 andar Macau Macau”. Their Standard Room for 2 cost us with the total of P2,547.73 plus all the taxes and service charge. We used BDO 7% off for visa holders that’s why we saved more or like P 200 + not bad at all.
Surprisingly they give us bigger room because we anticipated that their rooms are small as we seen in the picture in Agoda and we chose this because we will just literally stay there for a night. If you’ll ask me if I will recommend the place? This is my take, if you will stay for a night and want to be located in the center, I’ll go for it. But if you’ll plan to stay in Macau 2 days or more, I’ll recommend other hotels. They disappoint us that they don’t even answering messages and didn’t notify us that there will be a deposit of 200 MOP. Oh well luckily we change MOP in the airport.
PS: The place is hard to find even using Google Maps or Apple Maps. Or it’s just us because we arrive late and it’s raining. Lol.
Macau Tourist Spots
Macau Milk Tea and Egg Tart
Macau Casino and Hotel
After touring Senado Square, Ruins of St. Paul, Museu de Macau and nearby areas, we make sure to be back before 12:00 PM check out time. Now it’s time for the Casino and Hotel hopping. We ride the free shuttle of City of Dreams since we can’t find free shuttle of Venetian. Our plan is to leave our luggage’s in the Venetian concierge and then found out that the fee is 30 MOP already because it’s holiday season so we opt not to leave it and just walk around with our luggage’s. Since it’s already lunch time we look around and find a place where we can eat in a budget and end up in Mcdonalds but still expensive. Lol.
Walking around with our luggage’s is really tiring so we decided to go to Hongkong and end our Macau escapade. We ride free shuttle of Parisian going to Macau Ferry Terminal. We stayed in Tsim Tsa Tsui in HK so we need to go to Kowloon, and the fare is 160 HKD per person. Our guest house is just 10-15 minutes walk from the arrival terminal.
Golden Crown Guest House
I really like the Golden Crown Guesthouse because first it’s not that super cheap nor expensive, I can say its still can be considered as a budget hotel you can get in Hongkong. We only pay 350 HKD per room for 2 persons. Second, it is not that crowded even we stayed in December which is a peak season. Third, they actually change towels, bed sheet and clean your room everyday. Plus guesthouse keeper is a Filipino.
I booked on their website and they only require one night payment for reservation. Even though you’ll stay 2 or more days. The location of the guesthouse is accessible like example the famous Chungking Mansion where you can find a lot of money changers is just 2-3 mins walk and even MTR station where less than a minute walk. Bonus is they’re also selling discounted Disneyland, Ocean Park, Ferry to Macau and The Peak with Madame Tussauds tickets which is i can tell you that it’s really cheaper. If you want to check it out, here is the website of Golden Crown https://www.goldencrownhk.com
So whats next? Of course we want to visit the main tourist spots of Hongkong which is Disneyland, Ocean Park, Victoria Peak, Tian Tian Buddha, Avenue of Stars and more. Let me show you what actually tourist spots we be able to go with our budget on my next blog post.
